What Is Fiddlers Tour? The Fiddlers' Tour is a year-round, weekly, Traditional Music acoustic jam session -- open to musicians of all ages and playing levels. Music lovers welcome! You don't need to be a musician to attend. Bring family and friends! We meet in the NY Capital District area (Albany, Schenectady, Troy), and gather every Tuesday night from 7:30-10:30pm, each month in a different public location. We play for the sheer fun of it. We collect no dues, and no membership is required (we do have a voluntary "tip hat" for the waitpersons wherever we play). We play a variety of jigs, reels, hornpipes and marches, waltzes, as well as a few Old Timey tunes. The jam is a "round robin" style; everyone in the circle takes a turn choosing the tune of the moment. We play acoustic instruments only, which have included (but aren't limited to) fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bass fiddle, tin whistle, recorder, banjo, flute, concertina, Irish harp, dulcimers, oboe, and a variety of percussion instruments--Irish & African drum, "bones," shaker eggs, even spoons! Come to play, or just come to listen. Come early--have dinner at one of the pubs, taverns, or restaurants where we gather, and enjoy the music! |
